Happy New Year.
2012 was a good year; I moved in with my boyfriend (twice, we’ve been in our most recent home for a few weeks now), I got promoted, my best friend had a beautiful baby girl, my brother got married and there’s been some really lovely news for friends including engagements and babies.
I decided last night to see if 2013 would get off to a lucky start and bought a lottery ticket. Predictably, I did not win £30 million, nor did I win the millionaire raffle. But this got me thinking, the lottery is not going to make my life happier but I can do that. Life is what you make it, and as much as I am loathe to admit it, I think we can all be benefit from cheesy slogans like ‘Today is the first day of the rest of your life’.
I’m aware of a variety of small changes I can make to my daily life which will have a big impact on my quality of living in the long run so it seems a bit silly when I’m having these moments of clarity that I don’t already do them. I’m not making any New Year’s resolutions but I am starting the year with a positive outlook and some fully formed ideas about where I want to be next year.
I hope you’re all looking forward to a brilliant year, and that it’s better than the last.
